Why Is Everyone Carrying the Same Green Cup?

Walk into a café.

Look around.

Green cup.

Oh look — another green cup.

At this point, spotting a Starbucks cup in public is about as surprising as seeing someone wearing sneakers.

Somehow, we have collectively decided that carrying a very specific green-and-white cup makes us look like we have somewhere important to be.

And honestly?

It kind of does.

You could be running late for class, have three unfinished assignments, 2% battery and absolutely no idea what you're doing with your life…

…but you're holding a Starbucks cup.

So obviously you're fine.

Suddenly you're productive.

Mysteriously busy.

Possibly on your way to a meeting.

What meeting?

None of our business.

And let's talk about the photos.

The cup next to your laptop.

The cup in the car.

The cup on the passenger seat.

The cup casually placed beside your sunglasses like you didn't spend five minutes arranging everything.

You don't even have to show your face.

Just post the cup.

Everyone gets it.

“I'm having a day.”

But here's the funniest part.

We're not even necessarily obsessed with the coffee.

We're obsessed with the moment.

The little trip with your friends.

Choosing what to order even though you get the same thing every time.

Sipping something cold while walking around doing absolutely nothing.

Sitting somewhere for two hours and calling it “going out.”

It's coffee, but also a tiny lifestyle accessory.

A green little symbol that says:

I have plans.

Even when the plan is literally:

go home and scroll.

And yes, there are probably a million cheaper drinks.

Yes, your local café probably makes amazing coffee.

Yes, you could make it at home.

But would your homemade iced coffee look as good sitting next to your phone while you take a photo?
